I hope you are right! Does the TSL video have "Whodunnit" on it? I know many fans hate that song, but it's fun to watch them play each others' instruments!

By 'in full' do you mean the complete Abacab show? or do you mean that the release as we already know it will be in full?

yes, 3SL includes Whodunnit (with Mike Rutherford playing drums!)

I'm the other fan who likes Whodunnit :music:

Please don't be a tease. If you have any ground for your hopes, please come out and say it. Otherwise, don't bring our hopes up needlesly. Not to sound like a :baby: but I really don't need to put my expectations up like I did for the second box just to be offered another turd. :axe:

Yeah, would wish I could believe it would happen, but seeing what they did with the audio box ... well, let's see, a surprise would certainly be welcome. :clover:

I still find it hard to comprehend that so many of you don't seem to care about hearing the 70's live stuff in 5.1. If it's a 'turd', as Kaspergm says, then it is one turd I'm looking forward to a hell of alot. This is a Genesis fan site, correct?

I will say it like this... ahem.

It is a little bit of ground, mixed in with optimism that the ground comes through....

I have to say I agree with Kaspar...optimism is all well and good but there were 'knowing nods' etc that $$$ knew things straight from the horses mouth, so to speak, in regard to the upcoming LIVE box and since then none of this 'prophecy' came true, and what with the recent track record I can't say I'm getting my hopes up that Genesis, Nick Davis or anyone else from the team would sit there and unearth all the old footage to put together a complete concert from nearly 30 years ago!
That amount of work would inevitably mean that the old edit of the existing tracks on the Mama tour and TSL would need to be completely re-done as surely the old 'style' and new edits would be completely incongrous.

We can dream of course so long as it is not a wet one.

Optimism [i]and[i] realism all the way.

:D

Latest "news"/rumour: One 'Christian' from a German fan club has had news about the Video Box:

Scheduled release date: November 9, 2009.
Content: 10(!) DVDs.

I'm only passing on what has been passed on from somebody else, so I have no clue about the reliability of this information.

Let's see what future brings.

A FLOWER!? (sorry, just had to say it :D)

@kasper - I'm surprised that they are going to release both of these box sets so close to each other. But then again, they may have to be delayed if they don't meet a deadline. We all remember very clearly the WiR incident do we not? 10 DVDs? This is extraordinary! I'll probably buy the video box set and not the audio one. I have more interest in the videos to be quite honest.

10 DVDs sounds mouthwatering. Let's just imagine for a minute or two what such a box set might contain:

TSL
Mama Tour
Invisible Touch Tour
The Way We Walk

With extras, the first three might stretch to 2 DVDs each. TWWW already has 2. Add them all up and we've got 8. But this is all from the eighties and nineties, so what about the seventies? I can't believe the Genesis in Concert film will be released again. Likewise Bataclan and Shepperton. The complete Seconds Out promo would be a welcome addition, but it's less than 30 minutes long.

Any ideas?

I suppose that wishing for the complete Tony Maylam source film would be silly?

Seriously, though, I don't see why they wouldn't re-release some of the videos that appeared on the recent CD/SACD/DVD box sets. Those box sets were not promoted as "video sets", and I suspect a lot of moderate fans simply saw them as re-released audio CDs. And the box sets had so much stuff that the hardcore fans might not object to re-purchasing them. Especially if the quality gets better (IIRC, the 1980 Duke-tour film is better quality on the torrent site than in the box).

So if they included a few of the full-length pieces -- maybe the Belgian TV special, and the Shepperton film, and the "In Concert" film (Maylam's final version) -- I wouldn't be surprised. Sure, it's a bit silly, but it makes more sense than including the band's MTV videos, which are already available in a collection.

But I think they have to include one or the other of these -- 1972-76 films that were in the previous box sets, or MTV videos -- to reach ten DVDs!

On the other hand, I wouldn't be surprised if the "ten DVD" figure is utterly wrong.

This, of course, is the problem. No-one knows if the 10 DVDs suggestion is wishful thinking or not.

As for repurchasing Genesis in Concert just because it happened to be in a video box set, my short answer is No. Put the complete complete Maylam film in and I'm on board. Otherwise, I'm spending money on something I already have. The same goes for the other material released on SACD/DVD.

My gut feeling is we will end up with TSL, Mama, IT and TWWW. Anything else (except material we already have ) will be a bonus.
