Sad news yes, but nothing is forever. I am meaning it both ways; Martin might change his mind in a couple of years and do Genesis again ...

Here is the text of the email:

Greetings, Genesis fans!

I regret having to announce that the next four ''Dance On A Volcano'' shows will also be the last.

After many years spent perfecting our presentation of the 1982 Three Sides Live tour, the team will now focus exclusively on
''Dance Into The Light: The Best of Phil Collins'', for which there is great demand.

The music of Genesis will nevertheless continue to play a big part in my life by way of, among other things, the Genesis Rewired project headed up by none other than Daryl Stuermer, guitarist for both Genesis and Phil Collins.

I hope that many of you will be with us for these last shows.

Martin Levac

Out of curiosity.... what is "Genesis Rewired"?

I know that Mike & the Mechanics released Rewired in 2004, and Daryl Stuermer released Rewired: The Electric Collection in 2006, but from the post above it seems as if "Genesis Rewired" is something unrelated to these albums....

Wow! It's not quite a tribute band... it's like a Tribute Phil combined with an Unleashed Daryl.

Tribute Phil is a great singer. He even seems to mimic Phil's mannerisms occasionally, though not most of the time. He can't match Phil's harsher vocals ("I Can't Dance" and "Squonk" in particular aren't very good), but on all the mellower stuff he's excellent.

Unleashed Daryl is great. I imagine this is how he would have like to have played with Genesis, if he had had complete freedom. In the YouTube clips, his solos in "Follow You Follow Me" and "Turn It On Again" are completely unrelated to the songs. I don't think they have much of a Genesis flavor, but they are certainly awesome stadium-rock guitar solos.
