Post Never to come new album. Wish!
I wish for "Foxtrot 2".
You know how the original release of Foxtrot had printings in the booklets at the end of supper's ready "to be continued".
I wish for parts viii - xi as 4 individual songs spread throughout the album and perhaps 4 - 5 other songs as well keeping it a 8 - 9 song release.

I'd wish for Tony Banks using both acoustic piano, mellotron and organs along with analog synths here and there. Maybe reprising the awesomeness of the song "the shepherd" by singing a duet with Peter Gabriel on one song. Of course Peter Gabriel should sing lead like 90% of the album (and write all lyrics) and Phil Collins singing backing vocals on choruses and druming (so this release wouldn't happen until 2011 I guess :( ).
I wish for both Steve Hackett, Mike Rutherford and Anthony Phillips to also contribute. Some parts on some track with a Rutherford/Phillips acoustic thingy and why not throw in an Phillips 12-string to Hackett electric distorted somewhere? And an Phillips/Hackett electric distorted duel along with heavy organs from Tony at the end of one song? It would be killer! I would like to here some Taurus 2 Moog bass from Mike and of course his normal electric bass all over the record.

I'm feeling kind of bad towards Tony, this don't seem like a record he would like. So I think I have to say the more up tempo instrumental synth melodies from Soundtracks really sets a mood and contribute with lots of awesomeness. And of course stuff like the fast stuff on most of the "Old Medleys" Genesis done in the later years. Those kind of things belong on my wish album.

Oh, Who Dunnit's awesome.

Another ideo for an upcoming album with Genesis would be this: take two songs from each band members solo discography and have the other members collaborate to make new versions of the same song.

This is the wishful list I came up with :) I Didn't write which member original did the individual songs, but you guys of course already know that :)

Compression (Anthony Phillips, Tony Banks)
Acting Very Strange (Peter Gabriel, Steve Hackett, Phil Collins)
Family Snapshot (Steve Hackett, Anthony Phillips, Phil Collins)
Humdrum (Tony Banks, Mike Rutherford)
I Don't Care Anymore (Peter Gabriel, Mike Rutherford, Tony Banks)
In the Air Tonight (Steve Hackett, Anthony Phillips)
Redwing Suite c. Kid and Detective Droid (Mike Rutherford, Anthony Phillips)
The Waters of Lethe (Steve Hackett, Phil Collins, Peter Gabriel)
The Women Were Watching (Phil Collins, Tony Banks, Mike Rutherford)
Um and Aargh (Peter Gabriel, Steve Hackett)
Racing in A (Peter Gabriel, Anthony Phillips, Mike Rutherford)
Serpentine Song (Phil Collins, Tony Banks)

No wait, it's Supper's Ready, followed by Cinema Show... dinner and then a movie. ;)

But to respond to the OP.... I think a lot of the music on Soundtracks has a similar feel to Foxtrot and Wind and Wuthering, although done in the Invisible Touch style of keyboards and drums. Smilin' Jack Casey is a perfect example of this. Speaking of which, I think that the intro chords for Smilin' Jack Casey is similar to that of White Mountain (both songs written in D-minor). Would have to look more deeply into this, but listen to both songs together. Quite interesting.
