Post Press Conference summary
Hey chaps,

I've updated my site now to list the salient points. I think I got most of them.

http://www.genesis-movement.org/2007tour/pressconf.htm

Cheers
Simon

I read somewhere else that Daryl got a list of 22 songs: Carpet Crawlers being one of them.

Yep, he confirmed on a radio show that CC will definitely be played and that he still loves FoF (so there's another one we can add).

It's like 'build-your-own-setlist'!

Cheers
Simon

Post Plans on any new material?
What I didn't hear too well was if any new material is planned on in the future? I would assume not but has that been confirmed yet?

Sadly they confirmed that NO new material would be played on this tour. Although I can't believe they haven't been doing some jamming. Perhaps for 2008+

Can't say I'm too disappointed in some ways - want to hear stuff I know, cement my love for them - and then push on in 2008 with some new material.
Playing new stuff on top of reforming may be too much for my fragile heart :)

Carpet Crawlers would be nice.

I'm afraid FoF will be part of one of the instrumental medleys.

But I don't regret that too much. It's maybe the only negative thing I have to say about Daryl: I never ever heard him play the solo in a decent way... (in my perhaps not so humble opinion ;-) ).

Whole pressconference affair must have been pretty painful for Ray. "Genesis touring for the first time in 15 years". No CAS songs.

I'm less optimistic about something happening with Gabriel in 2008 now. Don't think the others believe Peter wants to do it before he's 88 years old :(.

But we do get afterglow, los endos, decent ticketprices (at least in Holland) and early presales...

I'm a happy man :).

So let me get this straight.

Gensis toured from November 1968 thru May of 1998 or a period of 30 years.

Of those 30 years, Bill Bruford was in the touring band, for a period of 4 1/2 months.

Bill Bruford was never in the studio with them out of those 30 years, never wrote any of the music.

And yet, somehow you manage to launch yourself onto the floor and curl into the fetal position to protest the affrontary of the band for not inviting Bill Bruford to a reunion tour 30 years after those 4 1/2 months.

Dude, please do us a favor, and save your typo-laced, gramatically challenged, cap-locked tirades for the Dead Kennedy's reunion tour. I think bruford played with them for four months as well.

Post Press conference, well attended?
While panning the press seated in the room for the press conference it didn't see all that much crowded, I wonder how many true invitations were sent out and how many people actually showed up.

Some of the questions were from left field as well, as is the case with a lot of press conferences.

They perhaps should have had a couple of fans there with well run websites, Simon for instance. At least we would have had slightly better questions.

How about the question - "will fifty cent be joining you guys onstage?"
She must have out a lot of thought into that one.

That question made me laugh too!

Some guy asked a good one about the old soundboard tapes, and also asked about the Jackson Tape. Unfortunately they talked about the live recordings, but didn't mention the Jackson Tape in their answer. :(
