Post No Reunion for at least 12 months...
It's official - word from the band via Hit and Run:

In the light of current speculation about their activities, the members of the Genesis have issued the following statement through Tony Smith Personal Management:

"There are no decisions by Genesis to perform anywhere whatsoever at this time. This situation will not alter in the next twelve months."

No real surprise, to me anyway. Many are taking it too much to heart, to the point of feeling personal effrontery -- 'how dare they do that, they owe it to us' and other such nonsense.

Its time for some to move on with their lives and stop obsessing about the band.

Shame, but we can always hope it will happen sometime in the next couple of years. Longer than that then I don't think there is any chance

I'm sure some people will be expecting an announcement at 00:01 on 1st Jan 2007.

People need to relax!

It's as though some people's total well being and existence is contingent upon what the band does. I'm sorry, but many are being absolutely sad and pathetic over all this. Desperation doesn't begin to characterize it.

I'm reminded of the movie "Meet John Doe", where the man exhorts that he will fling himself off a building Christmas Eve at Midnight, to protest the state of humanity. Some of the Genesis minions appear to want to do the same, in reviling the band's decision not to reunite (if this ultimately turns out to be the case).

It is not as if my life depends on a reunion, of course. Certainly not with bands like The Musical Box performing these days. But it would be really awesome to see the five of them together. I myself am 'only' 19 years old so I have never had the chance to see them (as I am aware, so do lots of others with me). I have seen The Musical Box once and I'm going to see them this January in Amsterdam. I think it's a shame that Genesis won't reunite, but there are worse things in the world....

I'm not surprised by this announcement. I'm very skeptical for a reunion with the 5 of them anyway. Although I'd absolutely love to see it I really don't expect it to happen.

I think a Phil, Mike and Tony reunion is more probable.

I guess we'll all know in time, won't we.

Well I for one could use a break from all the reunion threads on the "other" board. Hopefully those threads will eventually fade away and we can worry about this in another 11 months!

I think the 'other board' could use a break from itself.

I think I'm mostly narked at all the stupendously over the top responses to today's statement.

It's not like it says anything new!

But noooo, suddenly people are gonna boycott all future Genesis releases because of it.

And I despair over the people who thought something was gonna happen immediately, and that there will be new music recorded (there won't).

Hopefully we may get some sensible discussion here :)

You're having a larf? Is that really what's being said on the official forum. Now that's just comedy!

Funnier than Little Britain last night at least.

And I quote:
Quote:
"After this debacle I am one Genesis fan who will not spend a penny on anything Genesis again.

I don't care if it is a Lamb Lies Down live gig on film I would not buy it."

You gotta wonder how some of these people get out of bed in the mornings.
