rehearsals??? LOL. I didn't think they rehearsed much for that gig at all. The concert is pretty mediocre, so I can only imagine how the rehearsals must sound.

They rehearsed at the Hammersmith Odeon, I think. It may have been just about two days.
And Duchess, you can hear a clip on that website - Fly on a Windshield/Broadway Melodies of 1974 is there for free download... :D

Tulyar, I think the date of the rehearsal was 1st oct, just one day before the milton keynes gig. :o Because Genesis played 3 nights, 28th 29th 30th at hammersmith,on the 3 sides live encore tour. Unless someone knows another day when they rehearsed. :?: I could be wrong. :)

This looks great. I knew they rehearsed at Hammersmith but never knew any recording, let alone a soundboard existed. Wow. There are some great photos out there of the actual Six of The Best concert, it is a shame it is not documented on video pro or audience. You know out of 60,000 people how is it not ONE person had a video camera?

"You know out of 60,000 people how is it not ONE person had a video camera?"

Because in 1982 personal video cameras weren't really that common. Those that were available were very big and very expensive. Stealth audience video taping in 1982 wasn't really feasible.

Just out of interest - is there anyone here who was on of the 60,000 lucky ones?

I was 15 years old at the time and only just getting into Genesis. I hadn't at that point ever heard any pre-1975 Genesis, so going to the show would have been lost on me.
But within the next year or two I'd got the complete back catalogue. I often regret that the Milton Keynes show wasn't in 1984 - I would definitely have been there and enjoyed it all!

I just found this BT on Youtube of all places and have enjoyed listening to this. Not the best performance but, an important piece of Genesis history.

Yes this is a good piece of history. It is an excellent recording as well. Hopefully with more interest in this, maybe some watchdogs for the band will realize the enormous amount of interest in the actual Milton Keynes gig itself.
