Post Voiceless Oceans by Peter Gabriel
I came across a cassette in my collection entitled "Voiceless Oceans".

Does anyone know what this is?

It is all Peter Gabriel songs, but seems to be outtakes or alternative versions.

I obtained this in the mid-80s from my then girlfriend, whose brother was a big PG fan/collector of boots and imports.

Do you have a tracklist? This might help.

The titles are straight off my cassette insert card. The times are approximate: hand timed from the cassette playback with no idea of whether the tape or machine are running fast or slow.

I Don't Remember 3:28
Games Without Frontiers 6:31
Milgrom's 37 5:34
Start 1:22
And Through the Wire 4:38
I Go Swimming 4:41
Walk Through Fire 4:00
Intruder 3:38
Bully for You 4:55
Excellent Birds 3:53

I actually have no idea what the source for this cassette was.

It is possible that it is a collection of tracks from different sources, and the title "Voiceless Oceans" was just something the taper came up with.

It's really an ROIO ...

Sounds like "Games Without Words", an album of largely vocal-less outtakes from the PGIII sessions. The only track that doesn't fit with this is Excellent Birds. This may be the version of This is the Picture from Laurie Anderson's Mr Heartbreak album.

I procured the penultimate copy of "Games Without Words" from a stall at Glastonbury festival in 1983... leaving the penultimate copy to be purchased (according to the stall holder) by Fish, then headlining Friday night with new kids on the prog-rock-block Marillion. Er, but anyway, I digress.
