Post St. Austell 18.9.1982
Long ago in the Russian Hills an explorer friend of mine found a box of tapes in a charity shop. One was labelled 'St. Austell 1982'. He captured it and brought it home to me. The tape only had the first half of the concert (ends with Whodunnit?) but sound quality was rather good, possibly A. The tape still exists somewhere in my attic but I also have a copy on minidisc. Anyway, sorry to ramble on, but would anyone be interested in half a Genesis concert? I can't find a St. Austell recording in the database.

15/8/10
I've found the original tape (at last). Will begin work on it tomorrow. Should I transfer the recording with Dolby off? There's no indication how it was originally taped.

Definitely! Half a show is better than no show.

If you could find the original tape, that would be awesome, otherwise MiniDisc is better than nothing.

Cheers
Simon

Yes This would be great of course
Because there are "only" 2 very Good Recordings, an Audience Recording and a SDB, Another Good one would be so :hi:

1982 is the first time I saw Genesis. Two nights at the Los Angeles Forum, with the Earth Wind & Fire horns (both nights) and Bill Bruford (one night). I had shaved a strip down my head like Peter in the Foxtrot era. And the band played "Supper's Ready" -- complete -- for the last time.

Any recording from this tour would be very welcome! And oddly, no soundboard recordings seem to exist.

No soundboards from '82? What about Saratoga, includes "Supper's Ready" too.

Any news from this mysterious concert?
No release planned for 28 years of the concert?
It's a pity, it would have been able to be a beautiful surprise.

I have a copy of this concert on cassette and will work on it to get it ready for torrenting. I would reckon the quality is about A-/B+ but it is the whole show, so watch this space....

Cheers,
Chris

This is interesting, I'm intrigued by anything relating to that 82 tour. Partly as I have a vivid memory of my 17yo self getting stranded after the Shepton Mallet gig (which was in essentially a big concrete shed used for agricultural shows) - plus of course seeing SR in its entirety. And the varilites for the 1st time (for me). Good quality complete recordings seem to be at a premium.
